Job summary

Savaria is seeking a Laser Cutting and Press Brake Operator to set up, operate, and maintain Amada laser cutting and Press Brake systems. You will produce high-quality sheet-metal parts in mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum while maximizing uptime and productivity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3+ years of experience operating CNC fiber or CO₂ laser cutting machines; Amada experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and material specs; strong mechanical aptitude.
• Comfortable with Windows-based controls; AMNC series or similar CNC interfaces a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, basic shop math, and use of precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Safely set up and operate the Amada Ventis fiber laser per job travelers, blueprints, and production schedules.
• Load/unload material (manual or automated); select nozzles, assist gases, and cutting parameters.
• Retrieve, load, and optimize programs on the control; use Productivity and Quality tools for material type and thickness.
• Monitor cutting process in real time; diagnose/correct issues like dross, incomplete cuts, pierce problems, or beam misalignment.
• Select, install and align proper tooling (punches, dies, etc.).
• Perform trial bends and fine-tuning to achieve required angles and dimensions with minimal scrap.
• Maintain production documentation; communicate issues to supervisor; perform routine maintenance and housekeeping.
