Qualifications

• Detail-oriented, able to perform precise measuring and maintain documentation.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Laser Cutting and Press Brake Operator to set up, operate, and maintain our Amada laser cutting and Press Brake Systems. The operator will produce high-quality, virtually dross-free sheet-metal parts from mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials while maximizing machine uptime, cut quality, and productivity.

The Press Brake part of the Operator position will produce precise sheet-metal bent parts to tight tolerances while ensuring safety, quality and efficient changeovers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely set up and operate the Amada Ventis fiber laser according to job travelers, blueprints, and production schedules.
• Load/unload material (manually or with automation if equipped), select correct nozzles, assist gases, and cutting parameters.
• Retrieve, load, and optimize programs on the control; utilize Productivity and Quality, as needed for material type and thickness.
• Monitor cutting process in real time; diagnose and correct issues such as dross, incomplete cuts, pierce problems, tip-ups, or beam alignment.
• Select, install and align proper tooling (punches, dies, etc.).
• Perform trial bends and fine-tuning settings to achieve required angles and dimensions with minimal scrap.
• Maintain accurate production documentation and communicate any issues with quality, tooling, or schedule to supervisor. Perform routine maintenance, tooling care, and keep the work area clean.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3+ years of experience operating CNC fiber (or CO₂) laser cutting machines; Amada experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, material specifications, as well as have a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Comfortable with Windows-based controls and basic computer skills; experience with AMNC series or similar CNC interfaces a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, basic shop math, and ability to use precision measuring tools.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs (team lifts for heavier sheets), and work in a production floor environment with PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, laser-safe eyewear as required).

Preferred:

• Familiarity with Amada Products (Laser Cutters and Press Brake more specifically).
• Knowledge of assist gases (nitrogen, oxygen, air) and material-specific cutting parameters.
