Qualifications

• Preferred one year experience performing histological duties.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, and reliable.
• Ability to follow or provide proper communication skills with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations.
• Ability to learn computer operations (Outlook and Laboratory Information System).

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized, delicate histopathological or immunologic procedures.
• Receives, accepts and triages specimens with correct patient information.
• Prepares tissue processing and embedding; ensures proper identification.
• Operates microtome with correct settings for representative sections.
• Performs H&E staining procedures and maintains stains and solutions.
• Maintains safety practices and adheres to OSHA regulations.
• Performs quality control and records for reagents and equipment.
• Assists in evaluating new procedures or equipment for potential adoption.
