Job summary

Precision Castparts in Groton, CT is seeking a heat treat operator to work under limited supervision, performing heat treating, annealing, hardening, tempering, solutionizing and aging of a wide variety of castings, following established methods and recording all required data.

You will train heat treat trainees, guide helpers, monitor furnace temperatures, adjust cycles, and ensure quality by hardness and other control checks; safety and neatness are essential in daily duties, with overtime

Qualifications

• 2 years or more of experience.
• Requires interpretation skills for tests, use and checking of reports, forms and data.
• Ability to plan work and load furnaces to avoid distortion of parts; train trainees.

Responsibilities

• Heat treat, anneal, harden, temper, or solutionize and age castings per procedures; adjust variables and maintain records.
• Perform furnace temperature checks and prepare related reports; validate thermocouples and calibration documents.
• Detect improper operation, maintain a clean work area, follow safety regulations, and assist with other tasks as required.
