Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 1 year of furnace or heat-treating experience
• Knowledge of furnace maintenance and repair methods
• Familiarity with cranes, forklifts and power tools is a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, contractors and public
• Organized and detail-oriented with strong accuracy; able to multi-task
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• High integrity; handle confidential information

Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare machines according to daily production schedules
• Prepare equipment and ensure furnace settings are accurate
• Monitor shift operation of machinery, adjusting settings as necessary
• Load and unload setups, breakdowns, and operating equipment
• Operate related equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, and power tools when required
• Follow router directions along with initial and date all pertinent information required
• Maintain accurate logs and monitor equipment to ensure it is producing the proper output
• Perform housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and clean workplace
• Use personal protective equipment as required by the job, including safety vest, gloves, and eye protection
• Perform duties safely, observe OSHA, MTI and SDS standards; ensure safe operation of equipment
• Report all accidents to supervisor immediately
• Coordinate with outside machine shops for fixtures and special machining
• Collaborate with manufacturers, internal department, and support staff to achieve company goals
• Perform similar or related work as required and abide by directions from supervisors
