Job summary

Senior plc’s SSP division seeks a Welder A to perform precision GTAW and related welding to exacting customer specifications. The role requires interpretation of blueprints, adherence to AWS D17.1 standards, and qualification to relevant QOP-62-02 groups.

Duties include setting up welds, inspecting welds, and ensuring critical tolerances are met. The position operates on second shift, with responsibilities spanning materials from thin to thick sections and edge proximity challenges.

Qualifications

• Requires x-ray quality precision welding and adherence to AWS D17.1 and QOP-62-02 certifications.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding procedures to determine sequence and tolerances.
• Performs welding on various metals and thicknesses with attention to distortion control.

Responsibilities

• Shall qualify to AWS D17.1 and QOP-62-02; welds to customer specs and passes visual, radiographic and metallographic exams.
• Determines welding sequence, tolerances, and relationships of parts from blueprints and procedures.
• Performs complex GTAW/GMAW welding on flat, horizontal, vertical, or circular surfaces per established specs.
• Welds materials from very thin to thick and near edges with careful technique to prevent defects.
