Job summary

Knife River Corporation’s Mountain Division in Magna, UT seeks a Grader Operator to spread, level, and smooth base materials and asphalt for paving and road construction projects. Precision and attention to detail are essential to achieve proper grade and slope.

The role requires operating a motor grader, reading blueprints, and coordinating with the crew to maintain safety and productivity on site. Outdoor work and teamwork are core aspects of this position.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating a motor grader in asphalt/road construction or grading environment.
• Ability to fine grade within 1/10 inch with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of GPS grading systems is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor graders to establish proper road grade and slope for paving projects.
• Fine grade surfaces in preparation for asphalt paving or other materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, survey stakes, and grade sheets.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections.
• Collaborate with the crew to ensure the job site is safe and productive.
• Follow all safety procedures and company protocols.
• Communicate with the foreman and project managers regarding site progress or issues.
