Job summary

The Horsburgh & Scott company in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking an experienced Shaper Operator to join our gear manufacturing team. You will set up, operate, and monitor gear shaping machines to produce precision gears according to engineering specifications.

This role requires 2–5 years of gear-shaping or related machine shop experience, the ability to read blueprints, and strong teamwork and communication. You will handle heavy gear blanks with overhead cranes and perform quality checks to ensure

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
2–5 years of experience shaping gears or related machine shop equipment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
Must be physically capable of performing duties throughout shift.
Must be a team player and should possess good communication skills.

Responsibilities

Read and understand engineering drawings/blueprints to determine methods and dimensions.
Select proper tooling for designated operation/part/machine.
Load heavy gear blanks using overhead cranes and align on fixtures.
Line up production parts and tooling and verify tolerances with measuring instruments.
Maximize feeds and speeds to produce quality gears cost-effectively.
Initiate continuous improvements and document production data.
Perform in-process quality checks and inspect finished gears.
Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine preventive maintenance.
Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams.
