Job summary

Colonial Group in North Carolina seeks an upholstery assembler to perform varied operations, shaping and stitching fabric on frames. You will move frames from conveyors to the upholstery lift, using air staplers, hand tools, templates, and measuring devices to achieve the specified appearance, fit and trim.

The role requires reading and following verbal and written directions, basic math, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds (100 with assistance).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two to five years of upholstery experience.
• Ability to read and follow directions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Excellent attendance and flexibility for shifting workstations.
• Willing to work overtime, including Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Move frames from conveyor to upholstery lift using a transfer cart.
• Staple foam to frames with pneumatic stapler; safety glasses required.
• Cut excess filler with scissors and stretch fabric to fit.
• Smooth seams with regulator for a crisp finish.
• Trim excess fabric around wood portions with a box cutter.
• Occasionally lift frames off the assembly line for repairs.
