Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, hands‑on Electro‑Mechanical Systems Assembly & Test Technician to assemble, integrate, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot complex precision equipment and integrated electro‑mechanical systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with sophisticated equipment such as semiconductor manufacturing or inspection tools, optical instruments, imaging systems, metrology equipment, or other precision machinery. This role requires a combination of strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to use software‑based diagnostic tools and test systems.
The focus is on large, integrated system‑level assembly and testing, rather than PCB assembly or electronic board‑level troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assembly, integration, calibration, functional testing, and troubleshooting of complex electro‑mechanical systems and precision equipment.
- Build, align, and validate mechanical and opto‑mechanical assemblies used in semiconductor tools, optical instruments, or similar equipment.
- Interpret complex mechanical drawings, engineering blueprints, electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Execute established test procedures and assist in developing test methods, specifications, and troubleshooting processes.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system‑level failures, identify root causes, and perform necessary adjustments, repairs, and rework.
- Test digital and/or analog systems using appropriate diagnostic tools, measurement instruments, and specialized test equipment.
- Use software interfaces, diagnostic utilities, and test programs to operate equipment, perform calibration, validate functionality, and troubleshoot performance issues.

- Document test results, technical findings, corrective actions, and recommendations in technical reports.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and support quality, reliability, and production objectives.
- Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and assembly requirements while working in a hands‑on technical environment.
Required Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience in electro‑mechanical assembly, precision equipment testing, system integration, calibration, or equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with complex assemblies, precision components, and engineering drawings.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills involving integrated equipment, wiring, sensors, actuators, motors, or related electrical systems.
- Practical software skills for equipment operation, system diagnostics, testing, or calibration.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting digital and/or analog systems.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Familiarity with testing and measurement instruments and the application of mathematical calculations and technical formulas.
- Ability to identify technical issues, perform corrective actions or rework, and verify system performance.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work fully onsite in Milpitas, California, during the second shift, with overtime as required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with one or more of the following equipment types or environments is highly desirable:
- Semiconductor manufacturing, inspection, or metrology equipment
- Optical instruments and opto‑mechanical assemblies
- Laser systems, optical alignment, and imaging equipment
- Precision measurement and calibration systems
- Complex electro‑mechanical machinery and integrated equipment
- Sensors, actuators, motors, and equipment control systems
- System‑level functional testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
- Candidates with experience integrating mechanical, electrical, and software‑controlled components into a functioning system are particularly encouraged to apply.
Education and Training
- Associate degree in a relevant technical discipline is preferred.
- Military technical training or equivalent vocational training is a plus.
- High school diploma with equivalent relevant hands‑on technical experience will also be considered.
- Important Candidate Considerations
- This role is best suited for technicians who have hands‑on experience working on complete precision equipment or integrated electro‑mechanical systems.
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate how they assemble, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot equipment involving multiple interacting mechanical and electrical components.
- Experience with semiconductor tools, optical instruments, metrology equipment, or similar complex machinery is especially relevant. Candidates whose backgrounds are limited primarily to PCB assembly, soldering, or board‑level electronics testing are not the primary target for this position.
