Job summary

G&W Electric in Blue Island, IL seeks a Cutoff Operator to set up and operate band saw, abrasive saw, sand grinder, belt grinder and related tools to remove fins, burrs and risers from sand castings.

You will follow work instructions, communicate with supervision, and contribute to a safe, clean work environment while meeting production targets; pay starts at $20/hour and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 6+ months in manufacturing desirable; foundry preferred.
• Able to read work instructions and communicate in English.
• Safely use hand and power tools.
• Able to operate a variety of machinery.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saw, abrasive saw, and grinders as directed.
• Use hand tools such as hammers, chisels, and files.
• Load or operate blast cleaning equipment when required.
• Report production quantities for each work order.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment and conserve resources.
• Inspect finished work for defects before passing to next operation.
• Document actions on production and quality forms.
