Job summary

The Stanford SSRL beamline engineering group in Menlo Park seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead component design, 3D CAD modeling, and lifecycle execution from concept through installation.

You will collaborate with physicists, scientists, and technicians to define requirements, prepare design reports, cost estimates, schedules, and test records, and apply FEA and heat transfer knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead component conceptualization, engineering analysis, and 3D CAD model development, including material selection, GD&T/tolerancing, detailing, vendor coordination, procurement support, and documentation.
• Manage the full engineering lifecycle from concept to installation, collaborating with physicists, scientists, and technicians.
• Prepare and maintain design reports, design reviews, cost estimates, schedules, system documentation, and test reports.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field

Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
