Job summary

J.J. Barney Construction in Michigan is seeking experienced Concrete Finishers to perform essential concrete installation and maintenance tasks on our projects. You will place, finish, and cure concrete foundations, flatwork, and sitework, and work with reinforcement and formwork to ensure safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of finishing techniques, formwork, and shoring, the ability to lift heavy items, and a strong work ethic. Prior finishing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of concrete placement, curing, and finishing techniques.
• Knowledge of concrete formwork and shoring techniques.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks that may include kneeling, bending, and lifting heavy items.
• Strong work ethic with an unwavering commitment to quality and professional work.
• Ability to carefully follow written and verbal directions.
• Prior experience as a Concrete Finisher or similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Placing, finishing, and curing concrete foundations, flatwork, and sitework
• Placing and securing steel reinforcement bars or mesh within concrete forms
• Building and dismantling concrete formwork
• Using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and small equipment
