Job summary
Owen Industries, through its PVS Structures division in Carter Lake, IA, seeks a Quality Assurance Coating Inspector for structural fabrication. The role focuses on ensuring coating integrity on fabricated steel, with responsibilities spanning environmental monitoring and thickness inspections, reporting, and NCR initiation.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of coating inspection experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and familiarity with zinc, epoxy and urethane systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of industrial coating inspection experience.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with coating systems including zincs, epoxies and urethanes.
- AMPP/NACE Level 1 certification strongly preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct random inspections of fabricated structural steel products to verify coating specs.
- Monitor air temperature, dew point and RH in coating environment.
- Inspect wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT).
- Verify calibration of paint lines and inspector equipment daily.
- Prepare accurate inspector reports and NCRs as required.
- Support continuous quality improvement and reduce coating-related rework.
