Job summary

VetPowered, LLC is a San Diego-based manufacturer seeking a CNC Set-Up Machinist/Operator. You will independently set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components meeting drawings, quality, and delivery requirements.

Haas and FANUC controls experience is essential for success in this role. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will prepare machines, prove out programs, verify first-piece dimensions, monitor machining performance, and document setup for repeatability.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of CNC machining experience with independent setup and operation.
• Hands-on experience with Haas and FANUC controls required.
• Ability to complete CNC setups from setup docs including workholding, tooling, offsets, and first-piece inspection.
• Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes; 4-axis/5-axis preferred.
• Proficiency with G-code, speeds/feeds, and inspection methods.
• Familiarity with CAM software such as Fusion 360 or Mastercam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete CNC setups for mills and lathes including workholding and tooling.
• Verify programs, prove-out parts, and document setup for repeatability.
• Operate Haas machines and FANUC-equipped equipment safely.
• Monitor cycle performance, tool condition, and part dimensions.
• Read drawings and GD&T; ensure quality and traceability.
• Support safe machine start-up, troubleshooting, and root-cause issues.
