Position Summary
The CNC Lathe Operator / Setup Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of CNC lathes, converting metrics to standard, and using calipers and micrometers. A strong understanding of quality is required. Experience with Haas controls is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation & Setup
- Set up and operate Haas CNC lathes to produce high‑precision components.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently.
- Convert metric to standard because our blueprints are metric while machines are programmed and run in US standard.
Programming
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using G‑codes and/or CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
- Adjust cutting parameters and offsets based on material type and thickness to ensure quality and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling meets safety and performance standards.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Ensure all components meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, programs, and maintenance activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on process enhancements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating and setting up CNC lathes.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and G‑code programming.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and materials.
- Familiarity with Haas controls is a plus.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and great attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor environments with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required (steel‑toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs).
