Shape precision from the first setup to the final measurement As a Precision CNC Set‑Up Machinist, you’ll own the set-up and smooth running of CNC lathes and mills that drive our production. From interpreting GD&T‑rich blueprints to dialing in tooling and fixtures, you’ll be the go‑to problem solver who keeps quality high, communication open, and throughput on pace.
You arrive to a well‑organized 5S work area, review work orders, prints, and sketches, and plan your set-up. You verify the tool list, load tools, and establish work offsets. You run first pieces, validate results with CMMs, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and vision systems, then release production. Throughout the shift, you load and unload parts, often tending multiple machines, and you keep the team in the loop—escalating any malfunctions quickly. You record production and scrap diligently in Infor Visual, stay focused to complete the day’s schedule, and contribute ideas that strengthen safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
