Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Colorado Springs is seeking a detail‑oriented CNC Machinist I to produce parts to blueprint specifications. You will operate CNC mills and lathes, perform complex setups, and run manual equipment as needed, ensuring tight tolerances and quality.

Candidates should have 2–4 years of hands‑on CNC experience, be proficient with blueprints and precision gauges, and demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical machining training preferred.
• 2–4 years of hands‑on CNC machine operation experience.
• Fluency in reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving mindset, and attention to detail.
• Team‑oriented communication skills with the ability to mentor junior machinists.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills and lathes to produce parts to specification and blueprint requirements.
• Perform complex setups following setup sheets and tool lists; read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Run secondary/legacy manual equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses, band saw) as needed.
• Conduct first‑article inspections and routine in‑process checks using calipers, micrometers, and other precision gauges.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, adjusting tooling, offsets, feeds/speeds to maintain accuracy and surface finish.
• Assist in developing and refining machining processes to boost quality and throughput.
• Mentor and support CNC Machinist I team members to build shop capability.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep machines and tools in peak condition.
• Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
• Report equipment or production issues promptly to supervision and collaborate with engineers and production teams.
• Accurately document production activities, material consumption, and inspection results.

Job description

Step into a day where precision meets problem‑solving

You arrive to a clean, organized cell, open the job traveler, and review prints and setup sheets. You load tools per the tool list, dial in workholding, set zeros, and kick off a first‑article run. With calipers, micrometers, and gauges in hand, you validate critical features and make smart offsets to hold tight tolerances. A teammate from Machinist I stops by with a question—you mentor them through a tricky feature while coordinating with engineering to refine the process. You document production, track material usage, and keep the spindle cutting safely and efficiently all shift long.

What you'll do

Compensation & benefits

• Hourly rate: $22.00–$30.00/hr.
