Job summary

Continental in Sumter, SC is seeking a skilled machinist to operate machine tools and produce precision parts for Engineering, Maintenance and Production teams. You will read blueprints, select tools, and ensure tolerances are met through careful setup and measurement.

With 3+ years of machining experience and the ability to read schematics, you will determine feeds/speeds and perform routine maintenance to sustain quality output.

Qualifications

• AAS Degree in Machine Tool Technology or HS diploma with craft apprenticeship.
• Experience with AutoCAD, HAAS, SolidWorks and Mastercam, and willingness to learn.
• 3+ years of machining experience; ability to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Operate machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders) to produce precision parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
• Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and positioning using micrometers, Vernier calipers, and math skills.
• Determine feeds, speeds, and material removal for cutting and finishing operations.
• Set up machines, select tools and materials, and regulate temperature and vibration for quality output.
• Perform routine maintenance, tool sharpening, and adjustments to ensure optimal machine performance.
