Job summary

The Gill Corporation-Maryland seeks a CNC Operator to perform precision machining of aerospace-grade honeycomb and composite core materials using multi-axis CNC milling equipment and industrial saws.

You will set up machines, load programs, read engineering drawings, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances (±0.005", ±0.010" EOP) while maintaining safety and quality—contributing to a high-reliability manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of CNC experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with three- and five-axis NC machining of metallic or composite products.
• Close tolerance work, typically a few thousandths of an inch, using calipers or micrometers.
• Must have English reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining equipment and industrial saws to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Set up machines by mounting and aligning workpieces, fixtures, and tooling, and selecting/installing appropriate cutting tools.
• Load CNC programs from machine controllers or manufacturing databases.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, planning sheets, sketches, and technical documentation to determine setup requirements and machining sequences.
• Produce parts within specified tolerances, including ±0.005" thickness and ±0.010" end-of-part (EOP) when required.
• Inspect completed work using measurement tools to verify compliance with specs prior to next operation.
• Troubleshoot machining, cutting, or quality issues and coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and supervision to resolve problems.
