Job summary

Saint-Gobain Ceramics - SGP is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our Amherst manufacturing team to produce boron nitride and ceramic components using CNC and conventional equipment.

You will set up and operate mills and lathes, read engineering drawings, and select tooling and speeds to maximize material utilization while ensuring safety and quality. A strong focus on continuous improvement and collaboration with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years machining experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions and interpret dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and conventional machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Choose tooling, fixtures, and speeds for operations.
• Load/correct CNC programs, establish offsets, and perform edits.
• Machine boron nitride and ceramic components to spec with precision.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision instruments.
• Monitor equipment performance, quality, and production output.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, inventory and scrap records.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous improvement.
• Adhere to safety, environmental and quality standards.
