Job summary

Saint-Gobain Amherst seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to produce boron nitride and ceramic components using CNC and conventional machining techniques. The role emphasizes high precision, safety, and continuous improvement within a collaborative manufacturing environment.

You will read layouts and specifications, select tooling and feeds, load programs, perform first-piece inspections, and ensure efficient material usage while documenting production, inspection, and inventory records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years machining experience in manufacturing.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, and conventional equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions precisely.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting safety, quality and production targets.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and conventional machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specs, and work instructions.
• Select tooling, fixtures, workholding, feeds and speeds for operations.
• Load and verify CNC programs, establish offsets, and perform edits.
• Machine ceramic and boron nitride materials to precise specs with high material utilization.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections with precision instruments.
• Monitor equipment, tooling, quality, and production output; maintain records.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
