Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Machinist for the 3rd shift to operate CNC lathes and mills, reading blueprints and measuring parts with precision tools. You will adjust tooling, monitor performance, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure quality output.

Ideal candidates have a High school diploma or GED and 6–9 months of related training, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to set up and operate CNC machines in a manufacturing cell.
• Must read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to measure parts with precision instruments.
• Capable of troubleshooting machining discrepancies and tool wear.
• Adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Completion of 6–9 months of on-the-job training or related program.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines and equipment to produce precision parts.
• Transfer programs from servers to CNC modules and load/run them.
• Mount, align, secure tools and fixtures on machines.
• Stop machines to change tooling or setups per machining sequence.
• Handle finished parts safely using hoists/cranes when required.
• Measure finished parts to verify conformance with specs.
• Monitor controls and adjust readings to prevent malfunctions.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and tools.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement improvements in machining performance.
• Conduct tests/inspections and document findings.
