Job summary

Actalent is seeking a CMM Programmer in Belvidere, IL to program CMMs and perform precision inspections on machined and welded parts. The role requires interpreting GD&T, blueprints, and welding symbols, with collaboration across Engineering and Production to resolve quality issues.

The candidate will maintain accurate quality records, support continuous improvement, and work onsite in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on CMM programming experience.
• Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and welding symbols.
• 3+ years inspecting machined parts, welded assemblies, and sheet metal.
• Proficient with gauges, calipers, micrometers and metrology equipment.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to troubleshoot issues.

Responsibilities

• Program CMMs to inspect machined and welded components per specs.
• Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Use precision tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Inspect semi-finished and finished goods for conformance.
• Document defects and nonconformances with findings.
• Work with Engineering/Production to resolve root causes.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and welding symbols for inspection criteria.
• Maintain quality records through forms, reports, and logs.
