Job summary

Timken Company in Mascot, TN, seeks an Inspector to verify conformance of bearing components (cups and cones) through visual and dimensional inspection using dial indicators, feeler gauges, and electronic bench gaging. You will accept or reject parts per specs and record data in our systems.

You'll perform minor repairs, participate in lean initiatives, maintain tools and work areas, and coach new associates on procedures while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in math and reading is required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem solving abilities.
• New hires must complete required training and qualifications.
• Job rotation to maintain higher position levels.

Responsibilities

• Verify conformance of bearing components through visual and dimensional inspection using measurement instruments such as dial indicators, feeler gauges and electronic bench gaging.
• Accept or reject parts according to industry and customer specifications.
• Perform minor repairs including buffing, deburring, and grinding with handheld tools.
• Identify defect types and document component information into data collection system.
• Ensure standard procedures are followed in equipment setup, operation, verification, inspection and documentation.
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Participate in lean initiatives and process improvements.
• Coach and train new associates to foster a team environment.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and equipment.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
