Job summary

Dent Wizard in Seattle is seeking a Tech - Paint Prepper to support Paint Technicians by prepping surfaces, masking, priming, and preparing vehicles for finishing. You will inspect panels, remove defects, and ensure only intended areas are painted.

The role emphasizes safe handling of painting equipment, outdoor work in all weather, and reliable documentation. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with opportunities to grow into SME technician roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in wheel refurbishing or automotive repair is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in paint preparation, automotive refinishing, or a related field is advantageous.
• Knowledge of painting and surface preparation techniques.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
• Toughness and grit to work outside in all kinds of weather.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation: Thoroughly inspect wheels for damage, cracks, bends, or other issues. Evaluate the extent of damage to determine the repair or refurbishment required.
• Sanding and Smoothing: Sand surfaces to create a smooth and uniform texture and ensure proper adhesion.
• Masking and Taping: Apply masking tape and protective materials to areas not to be painted.
• Priming: Apply primer and sand primed surfaces for a smooth finish.
• Quality Control and Service Excellence: Clean and maintain painting equipment; follow PPE and safety regulations.
• Serve as SME Technician for the Division: Maintain records of preparation processes, materials used, and defects.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
