Job summary

Novanta Inc. is seeking a hands-on assembler in Bedford, MA, performing mechanical assembly of precision components. The role involves soldering, reading drawings, following BOMs, and ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

The job requires experience with opto-electronics, Lean/Six Sigma environments, and familiarity with QMS standards. Daily tasks include 5S, root-cause analysis, and safe handling of materials.

Qualifications

• Ability to multitask and willingness to learn different assembly requirements.
• Experience with opto-electronics and PCB components; Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
• Familiar with QMS standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Team player with strong computer, written, verbal skills.
• Basic knowledge of ESD and 5S principles; safety and chemical awareness.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and follow work instructions, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
• Use hand tools safely and properly.
• Assemble mechanical products to quality and output targets.
• Solder cables, wires and through-hole devices to quality limits.
• Inspect products and identify non-conformances.
• Operate test equipment (ALTF, PD Test) and read results.
• Collaborate with Team Lead to identify root causes of issues in assembly.
• Cross-train other employees and share knowledge.
• Suggest and help implement process improvements.
• Lead 5S initiatives and daily cycle counts.
