Job summary

Major Tool & Machine (MTM) in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Assembly Technician for 2nd or 3rd shift. You will assemble components per customer work orders, engineering routers, blueprints, and specifications, under supervision of the Assembly Team Leader.

The role requires reading blueprints, using torque wrenches, precision instruments and various hand tools, with emphasis on quality and clean work areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Trade school, vocational education or apprenticeship preferred but not required.
• Physical demands and safety requirements described below.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished component.
• Use torque wrenches and understand torque methods and sequencing.
• Use precision measuring instruments.
• Operate hand tools and shop equipment such as grinders, drills, etc.
• Install thread inserts, keenserts and fasteners.
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as electro etchers, hydro test pumps, vacuum pumps, etc.
• Perform material handling using fork trucks and overhead cranes.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area daily.
• Communicate with coworkers and supervisor to receive instructions.
