Job summary

Summit Polymers is seeking an Operator, Assembly in Kalamazoo, MI. This non-exempt role involves operating molding machines and assembling parts, following instruction sheets, and performing quality checks.

You will use basic hand tools, handle packing, labeling, and routine clerical tasks, while maintaining 5S standards and reporting equipment issues. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to stand for long shifts, lift up to 30 pounds, and work under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and follow Operator Instruction Sheet to determine part numbers, inspection procedures, packing requirements, and any special instruction.
• Retrieves, separates, inspects, counts, weighs, packs, and labels parts per written and/or oral instructions.
• Uses clippers, knives, screwdrivers, and other simple hand tools to trim, cut, and prepare parts per safety procedures.
• Operates molding machines and/or air activated tools and equipment to assemble, decorate, or produce product; reports malfunctions and variances.
• Compares, inspects, and monitors production quality against approved samples; accepts or rejects accordingly.
• Performs simple clerical tasks involving recording and summarizing production.
• Examines, repairs, trims, counts, weighs and performs secondary operations as directed.
• Performs routine cleaning to maintain cleanliness per 5S requirements.
• Interfaces with the production monitoring system.
• Assists in color changes / mold changes; sets up for next job.
• Assists with breaks for other operators.
• Other tasks as directed by supervisor.
