Job summary

Toyota TRD in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a 2nd shift Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain 5-axis CNC machines and robotic automation producing high-precision engine components. You will optimize machining processes and work with QC to ensure quality and on-time production.

The role requires 5+ years in CNC manufacturing, strong GD&T and blueprint skills, and experience with Heidenhain/Mazatrol controls. Comfortable with 5% travel and a shift-based schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and AA degree or approved trade school study relevant to CNC manufacturing.
• Experience with 5-axis CNC controls (Heidenhain/Mazatrol) and programming support.
• Strong GD&T interpretation and detailed blueprint reading abilities.
• Experience in a metric-driven CNC environment with tool selection and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain 5-axis CNC machines and robotic automation.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize processes and troubleshoot tool geometry issues.
• Load castings and materials per SOP with proper tooling and fixtures.
• Ensure machines run according to schedule to meet quality and OEE targets.
• Coordinate with QC to validate part quality and resolve non-conformities.
• Perform daily maintenance and record activity; document issues for root-cause analysis.
