Job summary

Technique, Inc. in Concord, North Carolina, home to NASCAR operations, seeks a Laser Operator to set up, program, and run 2D and 5-axis laser cutting systems for stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.

You will report to the Laser Supervisor and support high‑speed prototype and low‑volume production on race-season deadlines. The role requires 2+ years of laser cutting experience, blueprint reading and GD&T, CNC programming, and offline nesting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of laser cutting experience in manufacturing
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T notation
• Experience with fiber or CO₂ laser systems (such as TRUMPF) and 5‑axis laser experience strongly preferred
• Experience with CNC programming and offline nesting software
• Motorsports, precision fabrication, or prototype manufacturing experience a plus
• Basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, race-schedule-driven environment
• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends during peak race-season demand
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 2D flat-sheet and 5-axis laser cutting systems
• Program and edit laser jobs using CNC/CAM software to maximize material yield and minimize cycle time
• Trim formed parts and tubing with fixtures to accurately locate and laser trim stampings
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM reports
• Diagnose cut-quality issues and correct them by adjusting power, speed, focus, gas pressure, and part offsets
• Maintain laser equipment with routine preventive maintenance
• Maintain accurate job documentation and traceability for all production runs
• Follow laser safety practices, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements
• Train and support operators on machine setup, operation, and part quality expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned
