Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Precast Concrete Inspector I to perform plant quality control on precast and prestressed concrete. You will inspect forms and reinforcement, verify strand records, run fresh concrete tests, cast cylinders, and ensure finished pieces meet specs before shipment.

The role requires PCI Level I or ACI Grade I certification with plant experience, and involves travel to multiple plants with per diem as needed.

Qualifications

• PCI Quality Control Personnel Certification Level I, or ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I.
• 1+ year experience in a precast or prestressed plant with relevant tests.
• Reads shop drawings and tensioning calculations.
• Comfortable with plant hours and early production schedule.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forms, reinforcement, embeds, and blockouts against shop drawings before pours.
• Verify strand tensioning elongation and force records against calculated values.
• Run fresh concrete tests (slump, air, temperature, unit weight) and cast cylinders per ASTM C31.
• Perform stripping and release strength breaks and record them against required values.
• Inspect finished products for dimensions, camber, finish, and defects; tag for shipment or repair.
