Job summary

Fort Miller Precast is seeking a Design Engineer to oversee the design, technical effort, and project management for precast concrete products including bridges and box culverts. You will produce shop drawings and design computations to ensure compliance with codes and standards while coordinating with production and sales teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering, technical staff, and customers to deliver high-quality precast solutions on time.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline required; emphasis on structural engineering preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and AASHTO codes.
• Strong math and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet submittal deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review job specifications and plans prior to disseminating design or technical information.
• Perform structural and design computations; produce shop drawings and ensure compliance with codes and practices.
• Interface with Fort Miller Precast departments to provide technical assistance and improve production efficiency.
• Support R&D in development and design of new precast products.
• Interface with Sales and Marketing to provide material quantities and technical details for specifications.
• Communicate with customers, consulting engineers, and outside agencies; present technical information as needed.
• Collaborate with Engineering Technicians to develop and draft shop drawings.
