Job summary

Fabcon is seeking a permanent full-time welder/laborer to join the precast construction team in Lansing, MI. Responsibilities include welding and general labor to erect precast concrete wall panels, with instruction from the erection foreperson and adherence to safety policies.

Typical shift runs 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday; outdoors in all weather. Requires welding experience; AWS 3G/4G certifications preferred; ability to travel as needed and obtain union membership; valid

Qualifications

• Welding experience required; AWS 3G and 4G welding certifications preferred.
• General knowledge of construction practices; two or more years of construction or manual labor experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to carry out simple and complex verbal instructions.
• Ability to safely work at heights, including from ladders and aerial work platforms.
• Ability to obtain membership in a local union.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to travel extensively, including overnight travel 50% or more of the time, and work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding and general construction labor necessary to erect precast concrete wall panels.
• Complete welding assignments safely and efficiently as part of an erection crew.
• Follow work direction provided by the detail or erection crew foreperson.
• Perform additional construction and field duties as assigned by the foreperson.
• Use materials and supplies efficiently and handle tools and equipment responsibly.
• Follow all established safety policies, procedures, and jobsite requirements.
• Maintain professional conduct and work effectively with crew members and other jobsite personnel.
