USPI TOPS Specialty Surgical Hospital is seeking a Per-Diem Pre-Admissions Testing (PAT) Nurse to join our team. The role focuses on preparing patients physically and medically for upcoming procedures, ensuring all clearances, labs, and documentation are complete before surgery.

The successful candidate will perform pre-operative assessments, coordinate with surgeons and anesthesiologists, educate patients on instructions, and maintain EMR charting with attention to safety and readiness.

Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of pre‑op, PACU, or pre‑admissions experience
• Familiarity with EMR systems and surgical workflows
• Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• High attention to detail and organization
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
• Compassionate and professional patient interaction

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-operative assessments via phone or in person, reviewing medical histories and identifying any potential anesthesia or surgical risks
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and primary care providers to obtain necessary clearances and lab work
• Educate patients on pre-surgery instructions, including fasting, medication management, and arrival logistics
• Ensure all required documentation is complete prior to the scheduled procedure
• Identify and elevate any health concerns that may affect surgical clearance
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough charting in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Support patient safety, satisfaction, and readiness through proactive communication and education

We are currently seeking a Per-Diem Pre-Admissions Testing (PAT) Nurse to join our team full-time. This role is key to ensuring that patients are well-prepared for their surgical procedures—both physically and medically—before they arrive for surgery.
