Job summary

The Viscardi Center in Albertson, NY is seeking a Pre-Vocational Peer Mentor to support students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) at Nassau Community College. The mentor will escort students to classes and events, provide academic support, and assist with personal care needs if necessary.

This position requires a current college student preferably in Social Work, Psychology, or Education. Availability for 10-20 hours per week is essential. Join us to make a difference in students' lives!

Escort students to classes, volunteer opportunities and social events. Offer academic support/tutoring and assist staff in modifying assignments. Support special events related to the program and other duties as assigned. Create, maintain, and enter daily notes for participants into Medisked database. Additional duties, such as assisting with personal care needs, may be required.

Current college student in preferably the field of Social Work/Psychology/Education or related studies. Must have an interest in helping students with intellectual disabilities. This position will be 10-20 Hours/Week.
