Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Financial Clearance Specialist in California to handle pre-registration and insurance authorizations. You will coordinate authorizations for services, verify patient information, and communicate with payors to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role requires medical terminology knowledge, EMR proficiency (EPIC), and several years of prior healthcare pre-registration/referral experience. This is an on-site position supporting patient access efforts.

Qualifications

School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Three years related healthcare pre-registration/referral experience required.
Medical terminology and electronic medical record experience required.
EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Identify insurance companies requiring prior authorization and obtain authorization.
Coordinate authorizations for procedures and testing requested by providers.
Review charts on outpatients and report to third party payors.
Educate patients about their insurance policy and submit required documentation.
Perform pre-registration functions including demographics, insurance, and consent forms.
Verify insurance/eligibility and refer to financial counselors as needed.
Notify contracting on non-contracted insurance and document approval status.
