Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pre/Post Op unit. The role supports patients through the full perioperative nursing process with 1+ years of Pre- and Post-Operative experience preferred.

The RN will coordinate and deliver patient-centered care, collaborate with physicians and the care team, administer medications, monitor patient status, and educate patients and families for post-discharge care.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience or student rotations in acute care.
• RN licensure required; BCLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care using the nursing process and physician orders.
• Assess patients, document findings, and report changes to the care team.
• Administer medications, monitor effects, and document administration.
• Collaborate with clinicians to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in CPR/code team activities.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge care.
• Maintain infection control practices and safe patient environments.
• Document care promptly in the medical record and participate in quality initiatives.
• Assist in procedures and monitor life-support equipment as needed.
