Job summary

Methodist Childrens Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse II to join the operating room team in San Antonio. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families, and oversee preoperative care including IV therapy and medications.

You will work with surgeons, nurses, and techs to ensure safety and efficient workflows. The role requires RN licensure, a nursing diploma or associate degree, Basic Life Support, and at least 6 months of acute care RN experience.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• RN – Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree or higher required
• RN Diploma or degree held by candidate

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding peri-operative process
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols
• Respond to patient emergencies and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgeons
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe nursing care
• Monitor patient condition and document changes during shift
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures
