Job summary

Methodist Children's Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Registered Nurse II for Pre/Post Day Surgery in the Children’s program in San Antonio. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families, and prepare patients with IV therapy and preoperative meds in a fast-paced OR setting.

You will participate in site verification, maintain patient safety, and work with an interdisciplinary team to continuously improve perioperative care and outcomes.

Qualifications

• RN licensed and currently in good standing.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Associate degree or higher in nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery and coordinate preoperative care.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and perioperative steps.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Assist with surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize emergencies and deliver safe, evidence-based care.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to optimize workflow.
