Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Registered Nurse in Pre-Op to support the surgical unit in Lexington, KY. This PRN, first-shift role centers on preparing patients for surgery and coordinating preoperative assessments with a focus on safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include patient assessments, care planning, direct patient care, and supervising support staff. Required are KY RN licensure, BSN/ADN, and BLS; ACLS/PALS/NRP training is expected by the department.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ needs.
• Develop patient care plans.
• Provide direct care.
• Manage patient care delivery.
• Demonstrate leadership in the unit.
• Support quality patient care.
• Maintain a healing environment and patient relations.
• On-call weekends/holidays per rotation.
• Provide perioperative care before, during, and after surgery.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity in care decisions.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to PCTs, LPNs, unit secretaries, and students.
