Job summary

Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery in Nashville, TN is hiring a Pre‑Op/PACU PSU RN for the day shift. You will implement the Pre‑Op Nursing Assessment and Post Anesthesia Care record, and the nursing care plan, while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout care.

New grads are welcome; valid Tennessee RN license, CPR and ACLS are required, with strong communication and organizational skills to support surgical patients across ages.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• New grads welcomed.
• Current Tennessee Nursing License.
• Current CPR and ACLS.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good organizational habits.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
• Ability to care for patients from one‑year‑old to geriatrics.
• Excellent teaching skills.
• Basic knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement ideology.

Responsibilities

• Implement Pre‑Op Nursing Assessment/Post Anesthesia Care record and nursing care plan.
• Implement physician orders and provide continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients; continually evaluate patient condition, safety, comfort, and privacy.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation and sterile technique as deemed appropriate.
