Job summary

Kanas City Orthopedic Alliance is hiring a Pre-Assessment Phone Nurse for our Lenexa ASC. This role conducts telephonic assessments and remote-record reviews to determine medical readiness for orthopedic surgery and outpatient anesthesia safety.

The RN will review H&Ps, outside records, labs, and medications, then interview patients to identify risk factors and clearance needs. Full-time remote-ready position with ongoing care coordination.

Qualifications

• RN with active license and healthcare experience.
• Experience reviewing medical history and records is preferred.
• Ability to conduct structured pre-operative phone interviews.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts and H&Ps prior to scheduled surgery.
• Conduct structured pre-operative phone interviews to gather medical history.
• Screen for risk factors that affect candidacy for outpatient/ASC surgery.
• Apply selection criteria to determine ASC suitability; flag high‑risk cases.
• Coordinate with physicians and scheduling teams; educate patients on pre-operative instructions.
• Document assessments and communications in the EMR and HIPAA compliant.
