Bucknell University is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Pre-Mail Services Technician to join our Print, Publications & Mail (PPM) team. This role is responsible for managing data production operations within mail services, with a focus on ensuring the accurate creation and maintenance of address lists in compliance with postal automation standards. The technician will also oversee variable image and data merge printing processes, support equipment operation, assist with hand-processing tasks, and handle related administrative duties. Work assignments will vary based on departmental production needs, offering a dynamic and collaborative environment within a service-driven team.

Software Management
Install, maintain, upgrade, and operate postal automation and operational software to ensure efficient processing and USPS compliance.
Manage Address Software (BCC Software), including: importing customer and mailing data; sorting data and assigning addresses; generating USPS-required paperwork, address labels, and tray tags; and exporting and preparing print-ready files for production devices.
Manage Data Merges (InDesign & XMPie), including verifying that databases are accurately populated and formatted.
Process daily university and production mail following USPS guidelines using the Quadient SMART Meter Software.
Customer Service, Compliance & Project Management
Receive and interpret project requirements from Print Services and Graphic Design work orders.
Coordinate production schedules and work orders for incoming projects.
Manage National Change of Address (NCOA) processes to ensure all address data files comply with USPS MOVE update regulations.
Operations & Maintenance
Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of mailing and production machines to support the efficient preparation and dispatch of mail.
Operate laser printers to produce addressed materials.
Maintain postal inventory.
Provide backup coverage for all mailroom operations.

Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to operate computers using standard applications, such as: email, Google, Microsoft Office applications, and specialized mail processing applications.
Valid driver’s license, including successful completion of a motor vehicle record check upon hire.
Preferred, But Not Required:
Mail Design Professional Certification
Experience with variable data and address correction software programs
Previous supervisory experience
Must be able to lift packages up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting with mechanical assistance or help.
Ability to work in a standing or sitting position for extended periods.
Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise, dust, and fumes and use proper safety equipment as needed.
Position works indoors and outdoors with occasional exposure to a variety of adverse weather conditions.

The Community
