Job summary

Hampton Roads Community Action Program is seeking a Substitute Pre-K Teacher Assistant to support a Pre-K class in Hampton, VA. You will greet students, assist with lesson plans and curriculum, and maintain accurate, confidential child records while promoting parent involvement.

The role requires a High School Diploma, experience with preschoolers, and strong writing/organizational skills, with background checks and a Virginia driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma; an Associate Degree is preferred.
• Experience with preschool-aged children is required.
• Good writing and strong organizational skills are necessary.
• Background check and a valid Virginia Driver’s License are required.
• Criminal background check, physical and TB test are required before employment.

Responsibilities

• Greet children on arrival and departure daily.
• Assist the Pre-K teacher with writing weekly lesson plans and implementing curriculum.
• Maintain an accurate classroom roster and confidential files.
• Support conferences and document outcomes into the child’s file.
• Help with attendance records and monthly reporting to supervisors.
• Encourage active parent involvement in classroom activities.
