Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant at Lincoln Elementary School (High-Needs School). Under the supervision of a classroom teacher or administrator, you will work with individuals or small groups and perform instructional or clerical tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, an Associate's Degree or CDA, or at least 5 years of publicly funded Pre-K experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 48 college credits, AA, or qualifying exams for Title One schools.
• An Associate's Degree or higher, a CDA credential, or at least 5 years of publicly funded Pre-K classroom experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely in both oral and written form.
• Working knowledge of English, spelling, vocabulary, and mathematics.
• Willingness to participate in training programs or professional development as directed.
• Capable of performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Works with individuals and/or small groups under supervision of a classroom teacher or administrator.
• Checks papers and monitors student progress.
• Operates various office machines; may do some typing.
• Prepares and arranges materials for the day's instruction.
• Assists in supervising recreational, outdoor, and free-time activities, including field trips.
• Performs classroom duties such as reading, collecting money, taking attendance, and scheduling conferences.
• Monitors groups to allow the teacher to focus on other duties.
• Uses computer programs to assist students, individually or in small groups.
• Substitutes for teachers in emergencies.
• Prioritizes work assignments and completes tasks efficiently.
• Demonstrates support for the organization and its goals; accepts feedback.
• Reports promptly for work and maintains attendance.
• Communicates clearly and concisely in speech and writing.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information.
