Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students in a 10-month, 7-hour day position. You will work with individuals or small groups, prepare materials, monitor progress, and assist with classroom duties and field trips under supervision.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate clear communication, basic English/mathematics skills, reliability, and willingness to participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some exams/credentials may apply for Title One Schools.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Working knowledge of English, spelling, vocabulary, and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Works with individuals or small groups under supervision of a classroom teacher or administrator.
• Checks papers and monitors student progress.
• Operates office machines and may do typing.
• Prepares materials for instruction and supports field trips and activities.
• Performs classroom duties such as attendance, scheduling parent conferences, and collecting money.
