Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a Pre-K Assistant to support the classroom teacher and assist with instructional activities in a dynamic elementary setting. The ideal candidate will have a CDA credential and either an associate or bachelor’s degree in related fields, with preference for early childhood experience.

Qualifications

• CDA credential required
• Bachelor's degree in birth-kindergarten or related field preferred
• Experience in early childhood setting preferred
• Ability to adhere to policies and procedures

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums
• Discuss duties with the classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts
• Observe student performance and record progress
• Present subject matter to students under guidance of teachers
• Assist with checking materials and portfolios and testing as requested
• Prepare lesson materials and displays for assigned classroom
• Participate in daily bus, car, and van transportation duties
• Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
