Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a Paraprofessional - Campus/Instructional Assistant to support teachers in daily classroom activities. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the principal and begins as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will assist with small group instruction, prepare materials, help with attendance, supervise students, and support classroom management. Education: high school diploma or GED; strong communication and relationships with students, staff and the school

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Exhibit effective working relationships with students, staff and school community.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutor students at teacher's request.
• Plan and implement pre-kindergarten physical education instruction based on district provided curriculum.
• Help maintain discipline and other non-instructional functions.
• Record attendance information and related clerical functions with the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
• Assemble materials for bulletin boards and keep displays current.
• Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, etc.
• Escort children to and from various rooms.
• Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
