Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) plus one of: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or pass an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in assigned area and relieve certified teacher of non-instructional tasks.
• Assist teacher and students in achieving objectives of the program.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups.
• Help students with daily work and homework.
• Review activities and daily homework.
• Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
• Talk to parents to provide updates on progress, homework, and behavior.
• Distribute letters to parents regarding progress.
• Assist in filing and organizing materials and maintaining student records and attendance.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
